YOUR PRIVACY
Your designs stay yours.
Yarnshape doesn’t collect or upload your creations, saved library, or calculator inputs.
No accounts, analytics, or tracking.
Your designs and preferences stay in your browser. We don’t use analytics scripts, tracking cookies, advertising, or visitor profiles. There is no account to create and no cloud copy of your work. Download backups to keep a separate copy.
Original pattern sources stay on your device.
PDFs and pasted instructions that you deliberately add to the source library, their original filenames and content digests, source credits, language choices, and your notes are stored in this browser. File checking, PDF text extraction, page previews and conversion review happen locally using bundled code. We do not upload source files or run PDF actions. Source backups include originals, saved notes, extracted text and page locations, conversion attempts and accepted design snapshots; they are separate from studio project backups and exclude Ravelry connection credentials. Browser storage can be removed or evicted, so keep a downloaded backup.
Connecting Ravelry is optional.
The optional Ravelry connection uses a secure session cookie, separate from your local creations. You sign in and approve access on Ravelry. Our separate Cloudflare service keeps encrypted access and refresh credentials, your Ravelry user ID and username, and the IDs of library entries you browse for up to eight hours. Expired records are removed on the next cleanup run, normally within 15 minutes. Disconnect deletes those records immediately; revoking the underlying grant is handled in your Ravelry account settings.
Library and project summaries and selected attachment details pass through that service without being saved as library content. PDF files download directly from Ravelry, without passing through Yarnshape’s server. Temporary download links remain only in the page’s memory. The connection does not yet save patterns in Yarnshape or convert them into editable pieces. An address-derived, daily salted hash and temporary counters limit abuse; raw IP addresses are not saved by the connection service. Ravelry may log API requests under its own policies. We do not enable optional API response logging.
Feedback is your choice.
If you send feedback, we receive your message, feedback type, optional email, and the app version, page path, browser, and screen/window details shown in the form. Your designs aren’t attached. Reports are stored privately on Cloudflare and emailed to the owner’s Gmail inbox so we can review them and reply. We don’t sell this information or use it for marketing. Feedback has no automatic deletion period; you can email us to request removal of a report.
The technical essentials.
Cloudflare hosts and protects the site, which involves processing connection details such as your IP address. Opening the feedback form also loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which processes technical signals to prevent spam. The feedback service uses temporary IP-based abuse checks; it doesn’t store raw IP addresses with reports. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Turnstile’s privacy notice.
